Vägverket - SNRA

In order to increase mobility in the organization, the SNRA chose the SYSteam LessWire Office application from Telia.

"Now we have access to e-mail and the intranet anywhere and at any time", says Thomas Mannerhagen, Head of Telephony and Mobile Solutions for the SNRA.

"Our field staff can report online, which results in more effective production control and follow-up", says Dan Hallin, IS/IT Manager at SNRA's subsidiary Vägverket Produktion.

Greater accessibility and high security

The SNRA has offices throughout the country, requiring many trips for managers and specialists. Furthermore, some employees work in the field and live for extended periods in hotels or trailer homes.

E-mail has become an increasingly important channel for distributing information in and outside the organization. All employees must be able to read and answer their e-mail daily. "Customer focus and accessibility are critical for us", says Thomas Mannerhagen. "We want to provide speedy service for our customers - the public, commercial traffic and collaboration partners."

E-mail and intranet regardless of location

The SNRA wanted a solution that was simpler and cheaper than laptop pc's with wireless mobile access. The chosen solution is the SYSteam LessWire Office application from Telia and communication via gprs. With the help of a SmartPhone or handheld device and mobile phone, field staff can access e-mail and news on the intranet regardless of their location.

Vägverket Produktion, a unit that provides road construction, operation and maintenance services on a contracting basis, sees the new mobile solution as a tool for faster and more efficient product control and follow-up.

Improved service for customers

"Our customers demand real time information about our activities", says Dan Hallin. "This solution gives us more timely information about road conditions, where the snow ploughs are, where the roads have been salted, etc. Earlier, Vägverket Produktion had around 1,000 offline handheld devices out on the roads."

"The handhelds will be successively migrated to an online environment", says Dan Hallin. "We can more quickly take measures where they are needed most and improve service for our customers."

Thomas Mannerhagen also emphasizes the application's high security. "It gives us control over all our handheld devices and enables us to send out virus protection and updates automatically via the server, which makes it easier to maintain security levels. "All handheld devices have a password protected screen saver to prevent unauthorized access to data if the device should fall into the wrong hands", he adds.

"We want to provide speedy service for our customers - the public, commercial traffic and various collaboration partners."
