Pioneering 4G networks

TeliaSonera launched the first 4G networks in the world in Stockholm and Oslo in December 2009.  This pioneering of 4G networks cover the central areas of capitals and larger cities the rollout has continued to Denmark, Finland, Estonia and the Eurasia region.

We became the first operator in the world to launch commercial next-generation mobile broadband by opening 4G networks in Stockholm and Oslo on December 14, 2009. This was followed shortly with 4G rollouts to Finland (Helsinki and Turku), Denmark (Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg) and Estonia (Tallinn, Tartu and Kohila) in 2010.  In the Eurasia region, we have deployed pilot 4G networks in Lithuania, Latvia and Uzbekistan in 2010 as well.

In Sweden, TeliaSonera’s 4G network today covers 28 cities and villages. By the end of 2011, the 4G network will be deployed in a total of 237 Swedish cities and villages.
