Yoigo - a challenger in the Spanish mobile market
TeliaSonera's Spanish mobile operator, Yoigo, successfully launched its low cost and easy-to-use mobile services on December 1, 2006 and are today Spain's fourth mobile operator.
Yoigo offers mobile operations based on its own 3G network. In order to provide customers with national 2G-coverage, Yoigo has a roaming agreement with Telefonica. The approach is a benchmark low-cost operation with a sharp focus on mass-market customers. The business is based on a streamlined organization with outsourced functions, including network roll-out, maintenance and operations, customer care, logistics and warehousing.
Yoigo is the brand of TeliaSonera's subsidiary Xféra. TeliaSonera owns 76.6 percent of Xféra. Other shareholders are ACS, which holds with 17 percent, FCC with 3.4 percent and Telvent with 3 percent.
