Team Manager
Birgitte has been a manager for six months and likes having responsibility. As a middle manager, she has more responsibility than she had before. In connection with a reorganization of the company six months ago, she was asked if she would like to become a manager and said yes. She has not regretted her decision.
What do you contribute as a young manager?
"Perhaps another angle to things. Another way of dealing with challenges. I look at the company's development with fresh eyes and I believe the company benefits from this. I have worked with young managers myself and experience this as something positive."
Any special challenges?
"Making decisions that affect a number of people can sometimes be tough. Otherwise, it is challenging to establish real priorities and solve staffing problems when needed. Things have gone well on the whole and I have received nothing but respect."
What's good about being a young manager at NetCom?
"I gain deeper insight into the company's processes and a greater understanding of development and decisions. I have the possibility to make things happen. I used to be an accountant before I joined NetCom and I know the power of influence. Here, I can see concrete results of what I do."
What are the biggest advantages of being a manager?
"Having greater influence is an advantage in several ways and having a wider scope than before is also nice. Your insight broadens and I have the possibility to see what others do and learn from them. I like that possibility and it gives me the chance to focus on gaining new knowledge."
Why did you want to become a manager?
"Our department was being reorganized and I was asked. A new position in middle management seemed attractive to me. My education gave me a solid platform for managing the department and I like being given more responsibility. Otherwise, I was probably handpicked because I had been doing a good job, I hope."
What is the most fun part of the job?
"The daily challenges. Having many good colleagues that I learn a lot from. Having the power to influence is also fun. NetCom has ensured that young managers are given that possibility."
How did you get to where you are today?
"First I was an accountant at KPMG until 2006. Then I became a Controller with responsibility for the Technology Division at NetCom. I held this position until I got the management position in March this year. I have used this opportunity to learn as much as possible since the start of my career."
