Cultural cooperation in Finland
TeliaSonera Finland cooperates with the University of Art and Design Helsinki and the Sibelius Academy. The cooperation is based on networking and focused on supporting young prospects according to TeliaSonera Finland's sponsoring model.
TeliaSonera Finland and the Sibelius Academy have created a cooperation programme where two artists building an international career in vocal music are mentoring six promising young singing students. The mentors are two Finnish stars of vocal music: baritone Tommi Hakala and mezzo-soprano Lilli Paasikivi. Both of them have three mentees. The mentees are Rolf Broman, Ilona Jokinen, Mika Kares, Marion Melnik, Timo Riihonen and Julia Sitomaniemi. The aim of the programme is to support the professional development of talented young singing students by transmitting know-how and experience from more experienced mentors to young artists.
At the University of Art and Design Helsinki, TeliaSonera Finland takes part in the Odysseus programme, where students who are about to graduate are supported by offering them a scholarship for practical training at highly-esteemed fashion and design houses abroad. A young designer who goes abroad is assigned a network of four young students at an early stage of their studies. Exchanging experiences helps the students to make career decisions.
With this cooperation, TeliaSonera Finland wishes to create genuine value for those who participate in the programme, give them time to develop, and bear responsibility for its part for cultural development.
