The leading supplier of telecom services
TeliaSonera offers a large range of telecommunication services in Finland and is the leading supplier in the Finnish telecom market. The services are offered under the brand Sonera, TeleFinland, Cygate and Crescom.
Mobile communications usage is high in Finland. Around 80 percent of all voice minutes are mobile. The mobile market is well developed with intense competition and a large number of suppliers.
Following the introduction of number portability in 2003, mobile prices fell sharply, which had a major impact on revenues and earnings. Prices have stabilized since as focus has moved from price to content and customer loyalty but Finland still has some of the lowest mobile prices in Europe.
The market for fixed communications is heavily fragmented with a large number of local operators. Like in TeliaSonera’s other home markets, usage of fixed voice is decreasing while demand for broadband solutions is increasing.
