We reduce the environmental impacts of our operations in line with our CSR policy. We also recognize the possibilities that telecommunications offer for environmental protection and emphasize the innovative utilization of telecommunications. Telecommunication services enable a more effective utilization of natural resources and in many cases replace physical products with services.
TeliaSonera develops its environmental management with the help of an environmental programme based on the ISO 14001 standard. Some of the functions are already certified and further certification is underway. Each profit center defines its environmental programme with defined focus areas, objectives, specific goals, actions and indicators based on the environmental aspects and stakeholder demands specific to their own market.
TeliaSonera's own environmental work in mainly connected to our telecommunications networks. On the other hand, all business is "guilty" of travel which causes a lot of carbon dioxide emissions, which in turn are very harmful contributors to global warming. Energy issues in general and CO2 in particular are issues to which TeliaSonera wants to pay specific attention.
